Looking like Drew

Drew looks mostly like his dad. I think this is partly because he is a boy and partly because he looks like a mini-Logan overall. I do think that a lot of his expressions look like me...like when he cries or makes a pout face etc.
Every time we try to figure out, "Who does he look like?", I seem to think more and more that he just looks like Drew! He is the perfect combo of me and Logan. Smiley, Handsome, Cute, Funny, and Sweet. A great little guy to have around!

I thought it was funny that in this photo of me and in the one of Drew we are doing the same thing. It makes us look more alike.

Drew is starting to try out his voice and practice how loud he can be! I like how he waits his turn to talk too, although this is more like yelling :)

Snuggle Weekends

I love weekends.
It is so nice to have Logan home on the weekends because we get to have a break from our weekly routine. We wake up and snuggle in bed while Drew gives us his morning updates. He talks the most in the morning, almost like he has to tell us about his night or something. His little voice is so cute in the morning. I treasure this time with my two guys. Too bad every time I try to video tape him he stops gooing and cooing and just stares blankly at me. Oh well, maybe he wants it to just be our special secret.

This weekend Logan's parents were here and it was fun to watch them love on Drew. (This photo is from their last visit 3 weeks ago) He loves to snuggle and show off his tricks to them. It is fun for me to watch other people hold Drew because it gives me a chance to sit back and soak it all in. I can't believe how big he is getting and how fast he seems to be learning new things. Even just over the weekend he has gotten better at holding his head steady and can pull himself up to a sitting position with no head lag :)

During the week Drew doesn't ever have a chance to give me a big welcome smile like he does for Logan when he comes home, but on the weekends I actually get some too!
I went out for the first time yesterday with my friend Summir and left Drew with his Nana. When I came home I got a huge grin from my sweet boy. I fell asleep last night thinking about all his sweet smiles.
This afternoon he took a nap in my arms...my little snuggle baby. What a great snuggle weekend.

Peeking Cousins

So this video is not of Drew but of his cute cousins! We actually missed the really cute shot of all three of them peeking up at my mom one by one with perfect timing..but this is still pretty cute! Just thought I'd post a a video to see if I could do it.

Lots of Firsts

Since Drew is just over 2 months old, we are having lots of "firsts" every week!

It seems like he is growing up so fast! I can't believe how much he seems to learn everyday, and I feel so blessed to be able to watch him grow. He also has the cutest little voice! I keep trying to take a video of him "talking" but every time I try he just stares at the camera and stops talking, so frustrating! (but still super cute:)

Circle Time!

Since I've been home with Drew, I've had some trouble being all by myself all the time. As a result I seem to schedule the day like I did as a teacher: breakfast, play time, Circle Time (songs & books), outside time, lunch, nap etc. and it makes the day go by really fast! Of course the schedule is not really a schedule with a 2 month old, and we do different things everyday. But the broken up activities help me feel like I've gotten something accomplished every day. The wash and dinner won't always get done, but at least Drew had a fun filled day. I'll get there soon with the other chores, I'm working on it. I'm not a crazy teacher-mom (I don't tell Drew that it's Circle Time or anything), I just like to know that Drew isn't just sitting in his bouncy seat while I clean the house all day.

Snacks

The reason I named my blog "Snack Time with Em" is because I have discovered in my life and family that the best stories are told around food. I also found that some of the best stories kids tell is during snack time. Food seems to relax the story teller in all of us and makes it easier to listen to others and enjoy their stories. Some of the most shy kids in my class would come out during lunch with the funniest things to talk about and would bond with the rest of the class through their stories. I'm a big fan of snacks as well. I could live on small meals throughout the day and skip the main meals altogether. I guess I'm my mom's daughter, since I have the ability to make leftovers into snacks for the next day...like a tiny meatloaf sandwich or slices of cold steak with cheese.

I guess the teacher inside me likes to give tips so here are a few about snacks with kids: You can't expect your child to go on a big adventure all day without needing a snack at some point or you are asking for a major meltdown (Saw lots of this mistake at Disney World). You also can't expect your child to finish their dinner if they just had a bag of chips an hour before. Snacks must be controlled, in moderation, nutritious and yummy! I look forward to chatting with Drew during meal times and snack times as he grows up. Now time for me to have my morning snack...or maybe just lunch :)

Welcome

I decided to start this blog because I'm obsessed with checking other people's blogs because I love reading about their fun daily events and memories. I think my new mom-hood is kinda tough since I have a cloud over my head of all the times as a teacher I thought, "I would never do that with my kid" or "The simple fix for that behavior is..."(which is what parents beg you to tell them at every conference, so you almost start to believe you are smarter than them) Plus, I know people are just waiting around for my little one to be 3 which I so proudly called my "age of expertise" to see what kind of little trouble maker he is for me. I might just have to stop this blog before he hits age 3 cause I bet you are thinking, "I can't wait to see her with her OWN toddler" The thing is, even though I may know WAY too much about 3 year olds (that aren't mine), I know nothing about babies. So, we are learning together as we go, which is fun and new for me. Hopefully this blog will be a way for me to bridge the gap between teacher and mom as I grow with my sweet baby Drew.
