Easter First Steps!

He is walking! Drew took his first official steps on Easter! He had done a few little shuffles on other days, but today he took a bunch in a row! (As you can hear from our squeals his Nana and I were a little excited) He is really happy with himself once he gets going, but is still insecure about getting started. I can't believe he is walking! I kept trying to put him back down when he tried to walk :) but I guess I can't stunt his growth forever! He is getting to be a real little boy and I'm so proud of him. Happy Easter! He is Risen!

Here are some videos of him walking (running) with his push walker which has been his favorite activity lately, including going on walks and chasing his Pops around the house with it :)

Count down to the big birthday!

One more month of being able to call him a baby :) Well, he will always be MY baby, even if he is a big 1 year old. Drew has been very busy lately learning all kinds of new things and developing his funny sense of humor. One of his favorite daily jokes is his fake sneeze. Every time he sneezes or we sneeze (which is often in our house) he will laugh and do his own "ah ah patchoo". This of course always gets a laugh so that is why it is now his go to joke of the day. Also, after he takes a drink or sees someone drink something he will say, "Aahh" too which is his daddy's funny joke. He has been saying lots of words including: dada, hat, duck, sock, snack, truck, outside ("AHTsid"), upstairs ("UHsters"), and bread. He is super cute and I'm enjoying watching him learn new things every day.
The thing I'm not enjoying is listening to him scream, which is becoming quite often. He gets frustrated over not being able to do things, which I can understand but cannot communicate to him yet. So we just have to suffer through the screams I guess. Can't punish him cause he doesn't understand, can't tune him out cause the screams make my ears cry, and can't walk away cause well that's just not possible. Since his cuteness outweighs the screaming bursts most days it is survivable. Only when it is rainy and I am out of coffee or something, than we might both be crying. Most of the time he just screams for these 2 second bursts that stop your heart, but then he realizes he CAN figure it out or sees something else he wants instead so he will stop. He is just a very passionate guy. He either is very happy, very sad, or neutral/zoned out. Not much room for dealing with learning how to put legos together or not being able to jump the baby gate to crawl up the stairs. All valid complaints I understand, but the scream is just horrible. Anyways, enough about his temper.
On another cute note, to avoid screaming about not being able to use his fork yet, he did the funniest thing yesterday. He just took the fork and touched the food and then picked it up with his hand ate it. He was so happy that he "used" the fork and clapped with a big smile. He is too cute. Oh and while I had my back turned to get a knife to cut up some honeydew for him he grabbed the whole slice off the table and helped himself to a huge bite of juicy goodness! He is definitely a fun little guy to be around!
